Website audit: what to check and what to fix
A useful audit produces problems, evidence and priorities rather than just a score. Check whether visitors understand the offer, can contact the business and whether search engines can access key pages.
Structure and messaging
Review the homepage, service pages and contact. Each needs a clear purpose. A single page covering every service may not answer specific buyer questions.
Functions and mobile usability
Test navigation, forms, calls, checkout and errors on a phone. A form reporting success without delivering the message is more important than changing a colour.
Indexing and performance
Check HTTP status, canonical URLs, sitemap, robots, exclusions and Search Console queries. Connect these with pages and conversions. Use laboratory and field performance data where available.
Prioritise impact
Fix blocked enquiries and orders first, then crawling and indexing of important pages. Content, navigation and optimisation follow. Each recommendation needs an impact, effort and verification method.
