Website cost: what should the quote include?
A website price only makes sense alongside its scope. A five-page site, a store and a portal with users are different projects. Compare deliverables and total cost rather than the final number alone.
What changes the budget
Page count is only one factor. Copy, photography, design, languages, management tools, imports, payments, integrations and testing all matter. A basic form differs from a configurator calculating prices from custom rules.
What a quote should say
Ask for pages and functions, content responsibilities and acceptance criteria. Separate domain, hosting, licences, transaction fees and maintenance. Include usage rights, data access and handover terms.
Start without unnecessary features
Define the main action: call, enquiry, booking or order. Launch the pages and functions supporting that action first. A complex CRM can follow if a clear form solves the initial need.
Compare proposals fairly
Give providers the same requirements. Ask about exclusions, change requests and post-launch support. A low price without these answers does not show the final investment.
